Crawford’s Purchase, NH

Crawford’s Purchase: An unincorporated town, there are three main roads going through it. Base Road leads from Bretton Woods on US 302 to the Cog Railway station (neither of which is located in Crawford’s Purchase). Mt. Clinton Rd. leads from the AMC Highland Center to an intersection with Base Road, and at that intersection becomes Jefferson Notch Rd.

The trailhead for Edmand’s Path, an AT access trail, is located on Mt. Clinton Rd. This is the most direct route up Mt. Eisenhower.

Did you know? Ethan Allen Crawford, who started constructing Crawford’s Path in 1819 (considered the oldest continuously used hiking trail in the country), was granted (along with two others) Crawford’s Purchase in 1834 for $8,000.
