Lebanon, NH

Lebanon: One of only two cities near the AT in New Hampshire, Lebanon has all of the services that one would expect. While the AT doesn’t go through Lebanon, it comes close. Lebanon St. in Hanover provides the most direct access, and is also the way to get to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, the premiere hospital in the Connecticut River Valley.

Lebanon has numerous commercial districts. Several businesses and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center are on Hanover Street (NH Rte. 120). This leads to Lebanon Center which is the hub for government and emergency services. However there are also a number of restaurants and shops located there as well. US Rte. 4 leads to West Lebanon and passes several strip malls en route. West Lebanon has a compact downtown featuring its own post office, library and fire station. Quite a few auto repair shops are located here. Many people mistakenly believe that West Lebanon is its own town. South of West Lebanon on NH Rte. 12A, there are several malls and big box stores. Many of Lebanon’s motels are located here. This is also where Lebanon Municipal Airport is located.

Did you know? The rail center in West Lebanon is known as Westboro. It was renamed after two trains collided because West Lebanon was mistaken for Lebanon.
