Plainfield, NH

Plainfield: South of both Hanover and Lebanon, there aren’t any services in Plainfield that someone couldn’t get in one of those other towns. However, Plainfield is a town that someone would go through if s/he were approaching the AT from the Claremont, NH area.

Plainfield takes great pride in preserving the past. We have counted at lease four museums in town and five places that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. There are also at least three antiques dealers there. Most of the businesses are on NH Rte. 12A, however some are on NH Rte. 120 in the Meriden section of town.

Did you know? Noted painter and illustrator, Maxfield Parrish, lived in Plainfield from 1898 until his death in 1966. The backdrop to the stage at town hall was painted by him and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
