Somerset: The AT runs just west of Somerset, however there are no direct connections (either by road or trail) from Somerset to the AT. US Forest Service Rd. #71 (Somerset Rd.) runs through Somerset which is the link between Vermont 9 and Stratton-Arlington Rd. There is a forest service campground on this road.

According to the 2010 census, Somerset had a population of three. It is an unincorporated town, which means it has no town government. Its affairs are managed by the state. Somerset Reservoir is a major paddling destination, and the Catamount Trail goes along its eastern shore for several miles.

Did you know? On March 5, 1947, the snow depth in Somerset was 78 inches (6′ 6″). This is the most ever recorded for any location in Vermont.
