Trail Connections –
VT Rtes. 11/30 to USFS Rd. #10 (Danby-Landgrove Rd.)

On this section, a hiker will reach the summit of four mountains: Bromley, Styles, Peru and Baker. Both Lake Trail and Baker Peak Trail are side trails leading to US Rte. 7 near Danby. By driving to the trailhead for Old Job Trail, it is possible to hike a 10.9 mile loop on the AT and Old Job Trail. Mad Tom Notch Rd. (USFS Rd. 21) is an access road through this section, and The AT can also be accessed from Bromley Mountain Ski Area. VT Rte. 11/30 on the southern end is a major east-west state highway that connects Manchester with Londonderry. On the northern end, Danby-Landgrove Rd. (USFS Rd. #10) is an unpaved forest service road that connects Danby with Landgrove. There are 6 designated shelters and campsites on this section: Bromley Shelter, Peru Peak Shelter, Griffith Lake Tenting Area, Lost Pond Shelter, Old Job Shelter and Big Branch Shelter. Old Job Shelter is 1.0 miles off the AT on Old Job Trail. During busy seasons, a caretaker fee is charged at both the Peru Peak Shelter and Griffith Lake Tenting Area. Total distance: 17.8 miles.
